About Markus Plein

Life is always moving … New challenges and perspectives keep emerging, and I am happy to have arrived here after exciting years in Wiesbaden, St. Moritz, Mallorca, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo, by way of Australia. In my home region, where for some years now I have been running my own restaurant and realising my own vision.

It is important to me to combine my expertise and creativity with responsible indulgence. That is why we respect the climate, the season, nature and our home region when selecting and preparing our dishes. What exactly does that mean? That we do not simply order any ingredients from a delicatessen wholesaler, nor throw away food that we do not need at the moment.

“Nose to tail is more than a concept for us. It is respect for resources.”

For us, responsible indulgence also means making a great deal ourselves. From freshly churned butter and handmade pasta to Mosel fish we catch ourselves and vegetables harvested behind the house. We also always offer creative vegetarian and vegan dishes and menus.

So my restaurant, the Altes Kelterhaus in Wintrich on the Mosel, is not a restaurant like any other. It is the sum of my experience and allows me to surprise my guests again and again. Why not see for yourself?

Yours, Markus Plein & team
